Not being a big fan of posed studio photography I was really pleased to come across these gorgeous photos taken by central New Jersey photographer Sherman Charles Weddings

So full of color (even the black and white one!), life and joy, these photos reflect for me everything that the modern christening is- a celebration of timeless faith that is as relevant today as it ever was.

I love the pure white gown, something of a tradition and this lovely little girl looks so happy with herself. The flounce and fullness of the dress is definitely a must-have and the modern head-piece really brings the look into the 21st century.

Its been a while since I photographed little ones in christening gear, but I clearly remember the challenge of capturing the white gown and the skin tones of the child. If the background is too dark it can create too much contrast and throw off the white.

The lovely peachy tones and plush red in the background of this shoot really bring a lot of warmth.
